In the early days upon the snowy shores of Great Slave Lake, there rose a man of many talents, a humble yet inspired soul, driven by the changing of the seasons and the winter’s chilling call. This man, alongside his fellow citizens, took to the snow, shaping it with purpose and devotion until forms became art, and mere snow became something greater.
Year upon year, this endeavor flourished and grew, eventually forming a modest yet noble castle along the bay—a snowy fortress that stood as a testament to winter’s power. People began to gather, journeying from nearby lands and distant realms, marching as a legion each spring to pass through the secured gates and snowcrete walls.
Performers, artisans, craftspeople, and volunteers—all who would dedicate themselves to the vision—join with citizens and travelers alike to bring forth a fleeting kingdom, a sanctuary of winter’s own, where all may taste the life of royalty, if only for a day. And on the 28th day of celebration, as the days grow longer, the castle is brought low, yielding to the warmth of spring, only to be reborn with the next year’s chill.
