Aurora Fiddle Society

Performer Category: Music Act

The Aurora Fiddle Society youth fiddlers are  5-17 years old.  They range in ability from first-time fiddlers to advanced performers.  These amazing youth are led by Andrea Bettger and have weekly lessons throughout the school year.  They can be heard in various performances across Yellowknife including Avens Manor, the Farmer’s Market, at local fiddle dances, at the Yellowknife Music Festival, and at the Northern Arts and Cultural Centre.

The Fiddle Cats, the most advanced group of fiddlers, recently traveled to Whitehorse where they participated in the Pan-Northern Youth Fiddling Summit, hosted by the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Association.  They will be travelling again to Calgary in April to participate in the 2025 Rocky Mountain Fiddle Summit.  They are thrilled to present original tunes by master NWT fiddlers this year at the castle.  These tunes were commissioned by the Aurora Fiddle Society, with support from the NWT Arts Council, to help preserve and celebrate the rich history of fiddling in the NWT.

We are excited to be a part of the Snowking Festival once again this year!
