Johnny Cole
Performer Category: Music Act
Throughout Norman Glowach’s life, music has always been in the forefront. He’s always been on a quest for musical truth, and seeking knowledge through the filter of music. That’s been his life for fifty-two years in Yellowknife.
Over those years, he’s released many albums of original music and created over four hundred original compositions. This music spans the genres of country, blues, jazz, rock and comedy. Some of these compositions have received international acclaim and have been recorded by other artists.
Before he retired, Norm worked for 23 years at the NWT Archives. Working with history on a daily basis highlighted the importance of his family in Canada’s history. The stories of how his ancestors travelled from Europe to Canada and then finally ending up in Yellowknife in 1940 have been the inspiration for th character Johnny Cole.
“I’ve always believed that I was meant to be a drummer, as that was my firs instrument. Fifty-two years into my musical journey, I believe I was also meant to be a songwriter”.
